The Tim Nash Experiment Explained.

The Tim Nash Experiment is simple to reach the number 1 spot in Google for the words “Tim Nash” not a hard proposition you would say and hopefully it is not, though we are under a month in and only just starting to see working paying off but first some history.

Before the experiment there was nothing,
until page 3.
Page 3 had a listing for me under my previous employer it was a one line job, I have always used a psuedo name when on the web and on the whole this has suited me well. I still use several identities which we will come to later. The problem was I had no real identity but was a faceless programmer, who oddly enough spends a lot of his time working on SEO (Search engine optimisation) yet had never bothered to optimise the search that would perhaps get him work.

So what have we done

  • Created a site timnash.me.uk which is the basis of the campaign
  • relaunched an old blog (and killed it) here on wordpress (not this one, this one)
  • Used ClaimID and LinkedIn to create crossover brands

Crossover brands?
Tim Nash The IT ConsultantTim Nash and Tim Nash the IT Consultant, is a brand might not be popular but it is a brand in the truest sense of the word, it has a linked image, in this case my photo its the ugly mug you see here. The problem was I already had a brand tnash the quiet programmer but he wasn’t connect to the smiley chappy to your left, the means to link them was to use the two together so my del.icio.us account was changed to include my name as well as my username, claimID, LinkedIn were both used to link tnash with Tim Nash the It Consultant. This page is also being used to reinforce this link both to search engines and to readers. By the way don’t be confused by non genuine Tim Nash’s I am slowly linking all my user accounts that are public through ClaimID so if your not sure check there or send me an email.

Whats Next
You can track my progress via Google yourself of course and follow the changes via this blog, to help I have created a specific del.icio.us tag for users to track the progress, the overall plan is to take multiple positions in the top 10 this graph shows how I am doing as off the 1/12/06 but the next stage is hopefully to include you the dear reader.

What can we do?
Why thanks to asking, feel free to blog about it, if you do please feel free to link to this post, or the alternative post at http://www.timnash.me.uk/experiment by the way that page includes details on reciprocal links so if you want a free link all the details are there. If you use del.icio.us or similar social bookmarking scheme please save a few of the pages, if you can use tim.nash tag that would be great.

So to round up this is the Tim Nash Experiment to make Tim Nash the IT consultant the number 1 hit on Google for Tim Nash in the quickest possible time.
